Last GM vehicle I purchased is my 2000 GM truck still have it. powoq Fit 2010-2023 Toyota 4Runner Backrest Mat TPE Material Back Seat Protector for 2010-2023 Toyota 4Runner 5 Seater Accessories (Fit W/and W/O Sliding Tray, Rear Backrest Mats) 69.98. I can buy WS at the dealership for $7 QT. That tranny fluid in the GM vehicles, is the same spec as dexron III, but synthetic handles the high temps esp when towing. I have been GM owner for decades but I did luck out and used mobil synthetic transmission fluid merc/dex synthetic back in 1999.Īircraft engineer told be about the GM fluid could not handle the tranny temps, turns to acid. If Toyota members did have transmission problems, then the fluid or design would be an issue. dexron III did put the old GM into bankruptcy. Now IMO GM transmissions did have massive failures in 4l60/80. On the Toyota forums the members have not any transmission problems unless, they did not do the fluid changes after 180K miles.some have dropped the tranny pan and they thought it was waste of time miles.so with this report from owners the Toyota fluid and transmissions are very reliable. Well I do disagree with your Toyota ws transmission fluid, as not good to use. WS is junk compared to amsoil, Mobil, and Valvoline. Since you have a 2015 runner this change is not required unless you have 100K miles or more. GM has a filter and the tranny creates clutch particles so on a GM truck used as a truck 30-40K miles on the fluid filter change. Toyota has a totally different transmission than GM. When temps are 60F and colder much easier to get the temp to 110F and should hold for several minutes. if not then add fluid in the top fill hole. when the temp gets to 110f and some fluid comes out your good. as the temp rises open the fluid level hole. Start engine, do the tranny temp procedure. tranny must be level use a magnetic level on the pan jack up runner so it is level. if you spilled some then add a few more OZ. put in that same amount of fluid that you drained out. now if you do the tranny fluid and did tow stuff with 50K miles all you need to do is drop pan, clean pan and screen. Your runner does not have a filter it is a screen. I'd say just don't dawdle, and use only fluid from freshly opened bottles, and don't save the left-over for next time.Click to expand.since you have a 2015 runner this change is not required unless you have 100K miles or more. I think the engineers are obsessing about the fluid's exposure to air/humidity being minimized. On average, this should cost you around 154.99. Jiffy Lube will replace the old transmission filter with a new one and then replenish the transmission fluid with an option that meets or exceeds the manufacturer’s specifications. Labor costs can range anywhere from 300-400, depending on which shop you choose. The parts for replacement will likely only cost 50-100. There's a lot of gobblygook about temporarily installing bolts. A transmission filter change at Jiffy Lube will help your automatic transmission function better and last longer. Fortunately, transmission filters aren't terribly expensive. How To Change Transmission Fluid One way to assess the fluid is to carefully pull the dipstick while the car is running, wipe and reinsert, then pull to check the fluid level. It'll take about 3.5 quarts, so go slow as you approach that volume added.) It should be changed on an interval as recommended in your manual, but at least every 30,000 miles. This is different from a drain & refill which is much cheaper, but only gets. Have an assistant doing the pouring make this easier. It cost me 200 for a fluid exchange at my local Toyota dealership. debris can shorten the life of your heavy-duty automatic transmission. (A funnel and about 3 foot hose extension from above, snaked down through the engine bay, is simplest. It utilizes an off-the-shelf bypass oil filter for low cost and easy service. Add Toyota ATF WS fluid till at the fill hole, till it starts coming back out. Reinstall drain bolt (with new washer preferably).Ĥ. Remove fill bolt, then drain bolt, with fluid catch basin of some sort, obviously.ģ. raise the whole car, level (level is necessary to achieve correct fill level).Ģ. Make changing the transmission fluid and filter easier on your Range Rover by installing this easy change. Still, if they're telling you all this nonsense, I wouldn't trust their competence, or honesty.ġ. Works for the LR3, LR4 and various Range Rovers. The cost through a dealership should be around $100, at most. The dealership's service writers are idiots, to put it politely. Changing transaxle fluid on 2nd through 4th gen Prius is VERY straightforward, on par with an oil change. ![]()
